Driving
Driving
takes approx eight hours from Sydney and four hours from Melbourne.
Before you leave, check with Falls Creek Resort Management to
see if snow chains are required. If you are driving a hire car
check the rental conditions carefully as many hire car companies
will not provide insurance above the snow line. Check with Falls
Creek Resort Management to ascertain if snow chains are required,
it is also a good idea to put anti freeze in your radiator.
If driving
from Melbourne, the preferred route and the one that the coach
companies use is Hume Highway to Wangaratta Bypass, through
Myrtleford then the road to Falls Creek. See Maps
page.
If driving
from Sydney, the preferred route is via Albury, then through
Mount Beauty to Falls Creek.
Car parking
and hire of snow chains are costs that should also be considered.
Driving
and Coach
Another
option is to drive your car to Mt Beauty and take the Pyles
coach up the mountain. This means that you don't have to organise
snow chains, anti freeze or resort entry fees (they are included
in the fare) but it does mean that you are subject to Pyle's
timetable.
Air and Coach
Qantas
and Regional
Express (Rex) both fly to Albury Airport and Pyle's
coaches offer a pickup service from the Albury airport, Melbourne
Tullamarine and Spencer Street.
Limousine
Transfers
Why not
enjoy a bit of luxury en route to Falls Creek? Stretch limousine
transfers are available from Melbourne Tullamarine, Albury and
rural Victoria. Some interstate flights have long connection
times for the coach so Limousine
Transfers can make sense, especially if you are travelling
with a group.
Arriving at Falls Creek
If driving,
drive into the Oversnow terminal which is approx 200m past the
Information Centre at the bottom of the Gully Chairlift. From
here a Resort Management staff member will direct you to the
appropriate parking and deliver you back to the terminal. Proceed
through with your luggage and purchase your ticket. See FallsCreek.com.au
site for current Entry & Oversnow prices. |
